Ashkhabad - modern capital of Turkmenistan, the largest city in the state. The name is literally transferred as «a love City». Earlier the city carried other names - Ashabad and Poloratsk. The Official language - Turkmen.

The City is possessed on foothill Prikopetdag plain. The city has been erected at-sight ancient military strength with the name with the same name. Earlier placed at-sight large merchant roads. Ashkhabad has been completely destroyed in 1948 during one of the largest earthquakes on a planet (9-10 points under the Richter scale) in which result was lost more than half of population. Later the city completely has been built up anew. In 1927 has been declared by official capital of Republic Turkmenistan.

Official the coat of arms cities represent the heraldic board of the French form bordered with a thin gold contour. The board large part is coloured in blue (azure) colour, an exception - the bottom extremity coloured in gold colour. The central figure of a board is the stylised plotting of a silver striped lion without the claws, risen on hinder legs. In a forward right paw the animal keeps an onion with the bowstring torn on two part. The lion is represented in a profile, the figure is developed to the left, the mouth is opened. The board is represented over two handles of gold hammers crossed on a diagonal. Handles of hammers are wreathed by the figured arched Aleksandrovsky tape of red colour bordering a board on perimetre. The board top is decorated by a tower crown of gold colour. Date of an official confirmation of the coat of arms of Ashkhabad became on October, 22nd, 1908
